Why a study partner helps
A study partner is not about chatting; it is about someone seeing your plan and progress every day. Knowing someone is working toward the same goal makes it easier to start on time and keep going. Preparing for an HSK exam? A partner in China helps with speaking too.
How to find one
- 1
Write down your goal
Add your goal and date to your profile, for example “HSK 4 in December”.
- 2
Pick a country and browse
Pick your own country for nearby partners, or Mainland China for native speakers.
- 3
Light each other up in 12 hours
Once they light you back, you are connected one-to-one, not dropped into a big group.
- 4
Start a seven-day journey
Daily to-dos and progress are visible to both; continue after seven days if you like.
How it differs from group check-ins
| Bifrost seven-day journey | Typical check-in group | |
|---|---|---|
| Size | One-to-one | Dozens to hundreds |
| How it starts | Mutual light-up within 12 hours | Join via a link |
| Length | Seven days, renewable | Usually open-ended |
| What you see | Your partner’s daily to-dos and progress | Scattered screenshots |
Focus together
Bifrost’s focus timer lets you invite a friend to start together and share your focus timer, which works well for a scheduled online study session.
FAQ
Is it free to find a study partner?
Downloading and signing up are free, and light-ups within the same country are free. Finding a partner in another country needs a cross-border light-up, which is a Bifrost membership benefit.
What if they do not light me back?
If they do not light you up within 12 hours, no connection is made and you can keep browsing.
